3 days, 2 nights on Koh Samui: eating my way around the island, chilling out, and staying somewhere great near Chaweng Beach. On this trip I stayed at Best Western Chaweng Samui.
Where I stayed
A modern-style hotel with a fantastic location! It’s right in the middle of the Chaweng Beach area, so walking to the beach, cafés, restaurants or a 7-Eleven is super easy. There’s a pool in the middle of the hotel for cooling off, and it’s only 10 minutes from Samui Airport.
I stayed in a Deluxe Room with a view over the Chaweng town area. The room is really spacious, not cramped at all, with a lounge corner, a work corner, and a bathtub in the bathroom for a good soak. If you want something bigger, there’s also the Suite Room at a roomy 42 sq m. Breakfast is a buffet line with an egg station, bread, and Thai dishes too.
3-day, 2-night itinerary
Day 1 Direct flight from Bangkok with Bangkok Airways, check in at the hotel, then ease into the trip at Krua Ban Mui (ครัวบ้านหมุย), Salt Society, Fisherman’s Village and SEEN Beach Club Samui.
Day 2 A morning stroll on Chaweng Beach, with clear water and fine sand, then stops at the Guan Yu Shrine and Hin Ta Hin Yai (หินตาหินยาย, the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks). For lunch I recommend Baan Suan Lung Khai (บ้านสวนลุงไข่), a local-style restaurant in a coconut grove. Order Set 3, it’s great value. After that, on to Flo Coffee, Cabanas Beach Club, Coco Tam’s and Rom Khao Market (ตลาดร่มขาว).
Day 3 Wat Phra Yai (the Big Buddha Temple), Kapi Sator Samui, a Michelin-listed Southern Thai restaurant, and SAii Beach Club Samui before flying home from Samui Airport.
Wrap-up
Visiting Koh Samui in high season is all about relaxing at just the right pace: beautiful views, good cafés and delicious food. Best Western Chaweng Samui fit in perfectly, with a great location near Chaweng Beach, comfortable rooms and good service.
